In ancient China the dragon became the symbol for the emperor, bestowing good fortune and protection to the righteous. The period of the Emperor K’ang Hsi (1622-1722) was one of the high points in the development of blue and white wares. This period inspired Mottahedeh's classic design.
Mottahedeh is the recognized leader in luxury ceramic antique reproductions and historic designs. With an emphasis on hard porcelain faience and stoneware, we license authentic fine china reproductions from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, the Historic Charleston Foundation, Mount Vernon, Winterthur Museum and Gardens, Monticello, and Tony Duquette. We’ve also been commissioned by the White House, the U.S. State Department, and the Diplomatic Corps to production collections used in official state capacity.
