*Shreve, Crump & Low Graduate Gemologist notes: Paraiba tourmalines of Brazilian origin are exceedingly rare, and possesses the desired neon blue color sought-after by gem collectors. This neon-like bluish is colored by traces of copper in the crystal formation of the gemstone. It was first discovered in the Brazilian state of Paraiba in 1989, and is rarer, and sometimes more expensive, than diamonds, in fact only one paraiba is mined for every 10,000 diamonds.
