From Marienberg in Germany, Steinbach is a manufacturer of the finest hand-made wooden works of art such as their infamous collection of nutcrackers. Every nutcracker has a story, the Scottish Nutcracker wears a checkered plaid skirt and a hat – as it should be. Most important, however, is the object he holds in his arms. The somewhat strange-looking instrument is called bagpipe and every child associates it with the country of Scotland. The Scottish Nutcracker carries his bagpipe ready to play.
